Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) Co-President İlham Ehmed met with civilians during a meeting in Beirut, Lebanon, and stated that Turkey’s planned occupation of Jarablus was carried out after the Turkish state’s agreement with Iran, Syrian regime, the US and Russia. Ehmed pointed at the silence of these countries as the indicator of these agreements, and said that the occupation of Jarablus enabled ISIS to consolidate its influence in the town despite Turkey’s claims that the occupation is against ISIS.

Ehmed stated that Turkey’s occupation of Jarablus did not target ISIS but the Kurdish people and their allies. She criticized the Arab Union and Arab countries for their silence, an called upon everyone to raise their voices against the occupation instead of silently accepting the massacres of Turkey.

Regarding the coup attempt in Turkey, İlham Ehmed said that “the coup attempt was a plot of Erdoğan and his government. With it, they strengthened their power. The only goal of the Turkish state is to destroy the gains of Rojava Revolution. However, their plans will fail because the people of Rojava carried out the revolution with their own hands.”

Ehmed described Manbij victory as the beginning of a new phase that stopped the advance of ISIS. Ehmed said that the liberation of Manbij was an important step of the declaration of the Northern Syria Democratic Federal System, that maintains Syria’s integrity and offers a solution to the ongoing crisis.

Lastly, MSD Co-President noted that the embargo of Rojava continues with the closure of Sêmalka border gate, but the people of Rojava succeed in sustaining themselves despite the ongoing embargo.
