ILRIG: We want to benefit from North-East Syria’s democratic autonomy experience

A delegation from North and East Syria which participated in the conference "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Peace and Stability in the World" in South Africa met with the International Labour Research and Information Group.

A delegation consisting of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) Lebanon Representative Ebduselam Ehmed, PYD (Democratic Union Party) Spokeswoman Sema Begdaş, Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan - Syria Initiative Spokesperson Ferzende Mûnzûr, Kongra Star Spokesperson Rîhan Loqo met with the members of the International Labour Research and Information Group (ILRIG) which conducts research and training activities in South Africa, ANHA reported on Friday.

In a meeting last night, ILRIG executives Mthetu Khali and Shawn Hating gave information about the activities of the organization, which, he said, was founded in 1983 to create opportunities for non-governmental and worker organizations to express themselves by organizing the working class and conducting educational research activities.

According to ANHA, Hating stressed that they attached importance to democratization and the active participation of social groups. Hating noted that they wanted to benefit from the experiences of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, especially the cooperatives, which were addressed at the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Peace and Stability in the World" Conference in Cape Town in late February.

Members of the North and East Syrian delegation provided information on the communes, committees, cooperatives and education, defence and election system within the democratic autonomy system implemented in the region. They pointed out that Öcalan's ideas could resolve all the problems and contribute to overcoming the shortcomings in South Africa as well.

Hating expressed his admiration for the commune system, adding that they would improve relations with North and East Syria and try to practice an autonomous system in South Africa as well.
