The Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) has urged its members to go to Roboski to hold a vigil to mark the first anniversary of the Roboski massacre which claimed the lives of 34 Kurdish civilians on 28 December 2011. A delegation of the Federation has already paid a visit to Roboski families before the vigil. The action is called "In Roboski for justice, everywhere for Roboski".
In an interview to ANF about the vigil, SGDF President Doðukan Ünlü said they want to contribute to the idea of "brotherhood of peoples" by sharing the griefs of people in Roboski and by reuniting them with young people from the west.
Speaking about their recent visit to the village, Ünlü said that "the families of those who were killed are still in search of justice. The days we spent there coincided with their return from Ankara where they said they had received no answers from the AKP government. They were glad to hear about the vigil for they expect the West of the country to join them in their search for justice".
Ünlü pointed out that the Roboski massacre was a consequence of the deadlock in the Kurdish issue and called on young people to side with peace against the dirty war in which youths are sent to death in a military uniform.
