Participatory Democracy Party (KADEP) leader and Diyarbakýr deputy Þerafettin Elçi died on Tuesday.

Elçi, 74, was hospitalized a few weeks ago and was receiving medical treatment at an Ankara Hospital.

Elçi was elected as an independent deputy in Diyarbakýr in the 2011 general elections. He had joined the Labour, Freedom and Democracy Block.
