Information stalls promote the "Freedom for Öcalan" campaign in Europe

The global campaign for the freedom of Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question is being publicized at street stalls in European cities. Activists provide information about the background and invite people to participate in the campaign.

In several cities in European countries, activists are promoting the international campaign "Freedom for Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question" at information stalls. The campaign, which was launched on 10 October in more than a hundred places worldwide, calls for a just and democratic political solution to the Kurdish question and the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, in order to enable the leader, who has been imprisoned for almost 25 years, to participate in a renewed dialogue process.

In Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and France, activists have been in action on the streets since today, while the actions in Belgium will start on Wednesday. The information stalls are initially planned for three days.

Frankfurt

A tent with information materials was set up at the Hauptwache in Frankfurt to publicize the campaign. Activists from the Kurdish Community Centre in Frankfurt and the Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) are handing out leaflets and talking to interested passers-by about why Abdullah Öcalan is a key figure for a political solution to the Kurdish question that has existed for over a hundred years. The action will continue over the next two days.

Stuttgart

A tent was also set up in Königstraße in Stuttgart to provide information about the campaign for three days. The activists distributed leaflets and handed over information dossiers on the illegal incommunicado detention of Abdullah Öcalan and their demands for a solution to the Kurdish question in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. The stand also provided information on Germany's role and arms exports to Turkey.

Marseille

The action in the southern French city was launched today with a press statement in front of banners demanding freedom for the Kurdish leader. The activists are expected to present a dossier to the EU representation. The action, which is set to last three days, will conclude with a rally at 16:00 on 26 October.

Stockholm

An information stall was set up in front of the Swedish Parliament, where a press conference had been held in solidarity with the campaign on 10 October. The activists are handing out leaflets and books providing information about the paradigm of the incarcerated Kurdish leader.

Other information stalls were set up in Copenhagen and The Hague, among other places.
