Interdisciplinary Centre for Peace Studies condemns Turkish attacks in Kurdistan

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Peace Studies condemns the bombing by the Turkish state of the Kurdistan territories in Iraq and Rojava in Syria, as well as all other means of aggression against the Kurdish populations.

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Peace Studies (CISP) of the University of Pisa issued a statement condemning the bombing by the Turkish state of the Kurdistan territories in Iraq and Rojava in Syria, as well as all other means of aggression against the Kurdish populations, to whom it expresses its solidarity.

“War and violence are never instruments of conflict resolution, but always cause death, disability and disease, environmental and infrastructural damage, with consequences also in the long run in terms of impoverishment, exacerbation of inequalities, contraction of fundamental human rights as well as social and international relations, and thus the distancing from any goal of peace. Conflicts, on the other hand, can play an important role in building more just, sustainable and peaceful societies in which coexistence in diversity and self-determination and well-being of people are possible,” the statement said.

The CISP has as its mission the promotion of a culture of peace - starting with dialogue, respect for differences, non-violent action, conflict management and transformation, cooperation - through educational, training, research and dissemination activities.
