Investigation launched against HDP MP Güven for a speech in Amed

A summary of procedure was opened against HDP deputy DTK Co-Chair Leyla Güven for a speech she made at the Democracy Vigil in Amed.

An investigation was launched against HDP deputy Leyla Güven for a speech she made at the Democracy Vigil organised against the seizure of three HDP-run metropolitan municipalities on 19 August.

After the investigation, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Amed prepared a summary of procedure (a report) about Güven. The report will be allegedly sent to the Turkish parliament.

Güven, in her speech on 11 September said: "Those who tried to survive through the continuous persecution over the Kurdish people were defeated. They went at great length to impose on our  people. The issue is not a few municipalities, but the collapse of the AKP-MHP. The AKP-MHP is in a difficult situation, there is a provocation in front of the HDP provincial building. Yet their game does not work."

Güven added: "The HDP is not the cause of the war. It's not the HDP that started the war. The mentality that brought out the war is the one that left the Kurdish problem unsolved. As long as the Kurdish problem continues, there will be conflict and war."
