Iraqi Parliamentarian Atavuf Nema made a notion at the Iraqi Parliament and demanded that Iraq accept the PKK’s legality. Nema stated that the PKK has not acted against Iraqi laws and security, and should be acknowledged as legal especially after its success in the fight against ISIS.

Nema criticized the KDP’s policies against the PKK and said “KDP oppresses PKK sympathizers and prevents them from entering Duhok and Hewler. Therefore, Baghdad government must acknowledge the PKK’s legality and enabled the PKK to set up an office in Baghdad.”

Nema stated that the people enabling Turkish troops to stay in Iraq should be seen as traitors, and said that these people have been the toys of the enemy as they invite Turkey to Iraq.

Nema emphasized that Erdoğan’s dream was to re-establish the Ottoman Empire, and said “Turkey’s goal in fighting ISIS in Mosul is not to liberate the city but to whitewash ISIS. It seems like Erdoğan will continue to use ISIS.”

Lastly, Avatuf Nema called upon international powers to object to the policies of the Turkish state.
