ISIS gangs suffer huge blow in Kobanê

The most violent clashes since ISIS gang attacks began on Kobanê 19 days ago took place last night between the gangs and YPG-YPJ forces. Gangs attacking the Miştenur hill suffered heavy losses.

YPG/YPJ forces are continuing their historic resistance against the attacks launched by ISIS gangs supported by heavy weapons and tanks. Clashes continued all night as the YPG/YPJ forces inflicted heavy casualties on the gangs. While clashes intensified on the southern and eastern fronts outside the town, the gangs concentrated their attacks on the strategically important Miştenur hill. The gangs also shelled the town as the guerrillas responded to the attacks.

According to information from Kobanê, around 150 gang members were killed in last night’s clashes. Many vehicles were also destroyed. This is the biggest blow inflicted on the gangs by the YPG-YPJ guerrillas so far.

They were unable to collect their dead

Kobanê Defence Minister İsmet Şex Hesen said that the gangs had claimed they were going to perform the Eid prayer in Kobanê, and for this purpose had stepped up their attacks, bringing heavy weaponry from Jarablus, Manbij and other places. However, they had suffered a monumental defeat.

Hesen added:“They have been mounting attacks since this morning, and clashes are continuing in the south and east, and on all fronts," saying that the gangs had suffered heavy losses on the Miştenur hill, where clashes had intensified. The gangs were confronted by the stiff response of the YPG/YPJ fighters. I can say that they have left 150 bodies there and they cannot collect them.”

This Eid will be one of resistance

Kobanê Canton government spokesperson Mahmud Beşar said that this Eid would be one of resistance, adding: “they said: ‘we will perform the Eid prayer in Kobanê’, but the two armies (YPG/YPJ) are writing an epic of resistance. The collapse of the gangs is continuing. At this minute there are fierce clashes going on. Kobanê is in a key location as regards a democratic Syria and a democratic Middle East. We will resist to the end, what is important is Kobanê and the democratisation of Syria and the Middle East. We are fortunate to be involved in the writing of history.  The Kurdish People’s Leader began his struggle here, the Rojava revolution began here, and now the destiny of the Kurdish people is being written here.”
