ISIS gangs threaten people in Suruç under police supervision

While the attacks of Turkish police and soldiers against the Kurdish people resisting on both sides of the Urfa-Kobanê border continue, last night a group of ISIS gangs under the control of Turkish police threatened people as they travelled in vehicles through the Suruç district of Urfa.

While the attacks of ISIS gangs in Kobanê and the attacks of the forces of the Turkish state are continuing, a black Opel Astra vehicle with a 01 KC 231 licence-plate containing at least 4 gang members was observed in Suruç district of Urfa at around 00:30. The gang members threatened the people in Cumhuriyet street, the most crowded street of Suruç. The gang members got out of the vehicle and threatened the people with large knives, saying: “we will kill all the Kurds, we will burn Suruç, we will behead you.” They also swore at the people. After a while, the ISIS supporters left the area under the control of the Turkish police with in an armoured vehicle.

After a while, the police brought the vehicle to the police department of Suruç. It was observed that just one person was in the vehicle. According to the information that police gave the people, it was alleged that the man who was taken into custody was drunk. The man and the vehicle which was brought in front of the police department was released secretly. However, no information could be obtained about the identity of the other 3 men. Shopkeepers verified the same information, stated that the incident occurred under the control of the police and they claimed that the other 3 men were concealed by the police. The police department of Suruç has yet to make a statement regarding the incident.
