YPG/YPJ fighters are inflicting heavier blows on ISIS gangs who have been attacking the Kobanê town of West Kurdistan, Rojava, for two months now. At least 42 gang members, including two leaders, were killed in yesterday's fighting.
YPG Press Centre said in today's statement about the ongoing fighting that ISIS attack aiming to occupy Kobanê continued for the 62nd day.
According to the statement, YPG/YPJ fighters are continuing to advance in the town, and some areas occupied by the gangs were retaken with the support of FSA-affiliated Burkan Al Fırat and the peshmerga weapons.
YPG remarked that gangs are on the other hand continuing their mortar attacks on areas inhabited by civilians inside and around the town.
The statement said that two deployment areas of ISIS have been liberated and gangs inflicted heavy blows as result of an offensive which targeted their groups in the Sukul Hal and Municipality street areas on the eastern front.
YPG said 28 gang members, including two leaders with prominent roles in the attacks on Kobanê, named Ebu Alî Askerî and Ebu Muhammed El Misirî, were killed in the fighting that lasted all day and night long.
3 other members of the gangs were killed and a vehicle of theirs was blown up in another offensive YPG launched against gang groups deployed near the villages of Baxdik and Bozkê in southeast Kobanê.
One other offensive by YPG targeted a group of gangs preparing for an attack on the southern front. The statement said that all those in the group, 11 as far as ascertained and mainly comprising foreigners, were killed.
The statement added that 1 fighter of the YPG has fallen during the attacks on gang groups in the last 24 hours.
