ISIS supporters open fire on demonstrators in Adana

Police and people said to be ISIS supporters have attacked protesters who took to the streets in Adana in support of the Kobanê resistance in various parts of Adana. Two people are reported to have been wounded in clashes.

Following an announcement by Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan to the effect that ’there would be resistance to ISIS wherever the Kurds live’, there took place protests by youths in various neighbourhoods of Adana where police and supporters of the ISIS were involved in brutal attacks on demonstrators.

In the Küçük Dikili neighbourhood, a group of 7 people chanting slogans in favour of ISIS opened fire on the protesters. The supporters of the ISIS gangs then targeted a café frequented by people from Mardin, seriously wounding Hakim Ballı.

After the incidents in the Küçük Dikili neighbourhood, people blocked the main E-5 highway in the Şakirpaşa, Gülbahçe, Dağlıoğlu, 19 Mayıs and other neighbourhoods.Clashes broke out at all the scenes as police were not late to intervene without any warning.

DBP Adana provincial chair Uğur Bayrak who went to the neighbourhood had talks with police authorities and called for an end to the repression.

It is reported that clashes between youths and police continued till late night in the Dağlıoğlu neighbourhood.
