Israel said it carried out strikes on Syrian military facilities

Israeli army said it carried out a series of “large-scale” attacks against Syrian military facilities, in "responding to rocket firing from Syria."

The Israeli army said in a statement on Wednesday that fighter jets had hit multiple targets belonging to the elite Quds Force (Iran's Revolutionary Guards) - and the Syrian army, including surface-to-air missiles, weapons warehouses and military bases.

"The attack was carried out in response to the launching of rockets by an Iranian force from Syria's territory into Israel, intending to strike Israeli territory," the statement said.

The Israeli army also published a map showing six of the targeted locations, most of them near the capital Damascus.

The Syrian news agency Sana said that the Syrian air defense request responded to Israel's “heavy attack and downed several missiles."

Last week, the Israeli army carried out violent air strikes against the Islamic Jihad gruoup in the Gaza Strip.

Simultaneously, there it launched an air raid on the house of Ekrem Acuri, one of the leaders of Islamic Jihad in Damascus.

Israel did not comment on this attack. The attack killed two people, including Ekrem Acuri's son. In Gaza, the commander of the Islamic Jihad, Baha Abu al-Ata, was killed in the Israeli attack.

A total of 34 people were killed and 110 injured in two days.
