In a written statement on Friday, the Jinên Tîrêjên Rojê Initiative announced that the group carried out actions against the police forces in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari between September 20 and October 3.

“Our units carried out a series of actions in Gever (Yüksekova) on September 20-24 and 30 to pay tribute to the action of Martyr Sara and Martyr Ruken,” the Initiative said, listing their actions as follows:

“⁃On the night of September 20, an action was carried out against the police dwelling in the district centre with fireworks and a sound bomb.

⁃ On September 24, in Gever's Cumhuriyet neighbourhood, a sabotage action was carried out against armoured police vehicles and undercover police vehicles patrolling the area. The undercover police vehicle was completely destroyed, while 2 police officers were killed and 2 others injured, one of them seriously.

⁃ On the night of September 30, an action was carried out against the riot police station in the Orman neighbourhood of Gever with sound bombs and Molotov cocktails from two directions. In fear and panic, the invaders commenced random fire until the morning hours.”

The Initiative said that they targeted the police station in the Kışla neighbourhood of Yüksekova on October 3 in protest of the October 9 international conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

“At around 20.00-21.00, our units struck the Police Station, which occupied our neighbourhood, with sound bombs and hand grenades from two directions. After the action, a second armed action was carried out against the riot police deployed to our neighbourhood. A long-lasting gunfight took place between our units and the riot police, which left 2 police officers dead and 3 others injured, 1 of them seriously,” the statement said.

Following their successful actions, our units managed to return to their areas safely,” the statement concluded.
