"Journey of Freedom” from Dortmund to Cologne to demand freedom for Öcalan

Kurdish and internationalist youth are calling for a week-long march for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan for the "Journey of Freedom" to kick off from Dortmund in the first week of September.

The Kurdish and internationalist youth will stage a "journey of freedom" through North Rhine-Westphalia for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, stating:

"Since his illegal abduction in 1999, the mastermind of the Kurdish freedom movement and leader of the Kurdish people, Abdullah Öcalan, has been in solitary confinement on the prison island Imralı. We demand an end to the 24-year torture imprisonment! His physical freedom means the only democratic solution to war and colonialism.

Therefore, from 2 to 8 September, we will walk together through NRW and demand the physical freedom of Rêber Apo (Leader Öcalan).

As Kurdish and internationalist youth, we must become aware of our responsibility and form a united loud voice that will make the prison walls tremble.

24 years of solitary confinement, 2 years without a sign of life. We demand the physical freedom of Rêber Apo now!"

Meeting point for participants at 2 pm on 2 September is at Bornstr. 166 in Dortmund. Before the week-long march leading from Dortmund to Cologne, a conference on Abdullah Öcalan will take place on Sunday, 3 September.
