KONGRA GEL Co-president Remzi Kartal has called for support for the HDP at the 7 June elections, adding that only the HDP can prevent Sultan Erdoğan realising his dreams.

‘A historic election’

KONGRA GEL Co-president Remzi Kartal has issued a written statement saying that the upcoming election is of a historic significance for Turkey and Kurdistan. 

In his statement, Kartal said: "For the first time democratic, revolutionary opposition circles have united under the banner of a political party, the HDP, and are contesting the elections. There is a real opportunity for this party to exceed the ten per cent threshold and people living in Europe can play a crucial role in ensuring this happens. It is thus vital that everyone cast their vote.”

'We should mobilise to go to the ballot box’

Kartal said that participation so far in Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium and Austria had been low and that the component parts of the HDP needed to mobilise.

"Only the success of the HDP can halt Sultan Erdoğan and prevent him realising his dreams. This is a historic opportunity for the peoples of Turkey and Kurdistan to call Erdoğan and the AKP government to account. It is time to ask about those who were slaughtered in Roboski, Sinjar, Kobanê and Soma, and about the theft and corruption that has gone on,” he said.  

Kartal emphasised the importance of every single vote, saying that people should go to the polling stations in a spirit of mobilisation and vote for the HDP.
