The public meeting in Kurdistan Culture Association in Oslo, Norway, saw large participation from Kurdish people from four parts of Kurdistan who are living in Europe.
Speaking at the meeting which started with one minute's silence, KONGRA GEL Co-President Remzi Kartal said there are certain reasons for AKP’s declaration of war against the Kurds, the major one being its desire to choke the gains obtained by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in 2013's Newroz in Amed.
Kartal said AKP wants to impair the worldwide positive perception of the PKK raised in recent years, and noted that AKP attacks ISIS for show but actually attacks PKK with an aim to create a perception that it is giving a fight against terror.
Remarking that the AKP government is also disturbed by the support HDP received from the peoples of Turkey, Kartal recalled that “HDP has for the first time received votes from 81 provinces of the country”.
KONGRA GEL Co-President said it is also happening for the first time that the Turkish state is not united in the struggle against Kurds, and called on the Kurdish people living in Europe and their political friends to continue playing the important role they have undertaken so far in a stronger way now in line with the developments in Kurdistan.
Kartal's speech was followed by a cinevision projection featuring KCK co-president Cemil Bayık addressing to the Kurdish people living in Europe.
