“We can lose these friends at any moment. - said Kavak - In this respect, it is necessary to reclaim this action and to prevent any death.”
Politician Bedrettin Kavak called on everyone to mobilise around the hunger strikers in Strasbourg who have reached the 136th day of their fast.
Kavak visited the 14 activists on hunger strike in Strasbourg and pointed out that already many activists starting with Leyla Güven and Nasır Yağız, have reached a very critical stage.
Kavak said that it was very difficult for him to come and visit the hunger strikers as he himself had joined the hunger strike protests while in prison. He underlined that the activists, who showed tremendous resistance, had a strong will. He also noted that the morale of the hunger strikers is lifted by visitors.
Bedrettin Kavak also remembered the death fast, which started in prisons as of yesterday, and is carried out by 15 prisoners.
‘Do whatever is in your hands for the hunger strikers’
“We can lose these friends at any moment. - said Kavak - In this respect, it is necessary to reclaim this action and to prevent any death.”
He urged people to mobilise and do “whatever is in your hands to support the hunger strike reistsnace in both diplomacy and people work.”
Kavak was imprisoned for 24 years and is a survivor of the death fast of the ‘80s. Kavak was recently arrested in Germany in 2015 and was held without any legality in prison for 3 years.
