KCDK-E co-chair: Let's be in Cologne, let's break isolation

As part of the preparations for the 16 November rally in Cologne, KCDK-E co-chair Zübeyde Zümrüt, KON-MED co-chair Kerem Gök and Münster Democratic Kurdish Society Assembly members visited families and tradesmen and called on everyone to attend the march.

As part of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question" international campaign, preparations are underway for the march and rally to be held in Cologne's Deutzer Werft on 16 November.

As part of the preparations in Münster, KCDK-E co-chair Zübeyde Zümrüt, KON-MED co-chair Kerem Gök and Münster Democratic Kurdish Society Assembly members visited tradesmen and families, distributed march leaflets and invited people to join the march.

Zübeyde Zümrüt said: "We will organize a march in Cologne to demand the physical freedom of Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] and a political solution to the Kurdish problem. As you know, the Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan has been in captivity on the island of Imrali for 26 years. There has been very heavy isolation in Imrali, especially in the last 4 years. Neither family nor lawyer visits can be made, and they are gradually making the isolation even worse."

Zümrüt added: "When Ömer Öcalan, nephew of the Kurdish people’s leader and DEM Party MP, met with him on 23 October, Rêber Apo first said, ‘The isolation continues.’ Ömer Öcalan met with Rêber Apo as a result of a struggle, but this does not mean that the isolation has ended or that the Imrali system has collapsed. If hundreds of thousands of people go to Cologne on 16 November, the Imrali isolation will be on the agenda of European states."

KON-MED co-chair Kerem Gök said: "As part of the campaign for the physical liberation of Rêber Apo, social work continues at full speed to break isolation. We will visit tradesmen in Osnabrück on Wednesday as part of the preparations for the Cologne march."
