KCDK-E: We should all stand up to break isolation

“I am being taken to hospital but I will not accept treatment. I will continue this action until President Apo is free from isolation”.

The KCDK-E Presidency issued a written statement about Co-Chair Yüksel Koç, one of the 14 activists on hunger strike in Strasbourg, who was hospitalized on day 47 of fast.

The KCDK-E said in its statement:

“The resistance carried out under the slogan "Let's break isolation, let’s demolish fascism” continued with great determination on the 86th day.

The resistance against the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People's Leader, Abdullah Öcalan, which began under the leadership of DTK co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Güven, then spread to all dungeons also spread further on to Strasbourg, Hewlêr, Wales, Canada and the world.

At present many hunger strikers are on the threshold of death. Many cannot hold liquid. KCDK-E co-chair Yüksel Koç, who was on the 47th day of the resistance and the hunger strike, was taken to hospital. He had been suffering from nausea, dizziness, weakness, low blood pressure, and is still under control in the hospital.”

The statement continued: “We would like to point out that the health conditions of hunger strikers in prisons, in Wales and Strasbourg and in particular the health of Leyla Güven and Nasır Yağız, is quickly worsening.

It must be our main duty to defend the morale and the determination of the hunger strikers who are on the verge of death and it is our duty to carry the spirit of the resistance to all streets and all areas of life. We would like to say out loud once again that we need to stand beside the hunger strikers to save the life of our co-chair Yüksel Koç and Leyla Güven.

We want to let our people and friends know that we can expect news of death at any moment now. We must work hard twenty-four hours a day, from morning until evening in order to prevent this news from coming. Their life is closely tied to the end of isolation. They say, 'We are ready to pay whatever the price to break isolation’.

Then we all have to work and break the isolation to save their lives, so everyone will enter into a process of indefinite struggle. Everyone should enter this process.

While our co-chairman Yüksel Koç was being taken to hospital, he said “I am being taken to hospital but I will not accept treatment. I will continue this action until President Apo is free from isolation”.
