KCK Batman trial resumes in Diyarbakır
The second hearing of KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) case in Batman is resumed at Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court. A total of 32 politicians, 26 among whom are under arrest, are tried in Batman KCK case, including BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Batman chairperson Şeymus Azboy.
The hearing began with the giving of evidence, with Kurdish interpreters also standing ready in the hearing room.
BDP Batman chair defended himself in his mother tongue Kurdish, denying the allegations the court board put forward against him.
During his defense, Azboy called attention to the process of talks initiated by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and remarked that the continuation of their arrest would have a negative impact on the process which -he said- was supported by KCK detainees as well. “The release of KCK detainees will enable a more effective participation of politicians in the process Öcalan has launched. It will be a more positive development for the process if we offer our contribution from outside the prison”
Azboy said politicians under arrest could support and contribute to the works of the Parliamentary Commission of Wise People as well.
