KCK commemorates 10 October martyrs: "We will lead their struggle to victory"

KCK said that introducing democratic solutions to Turkey's problems by expanding the democratic movement is a commitment to the revolution and democracy martyrs, particularly the 10 October martyrs.

On 10 October 2015, two suicide bombers from an ISIS terrorist cell known to the police blew themselves up in front of the train station in the Turkish capital in the middle of a peace rally promoted by the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) together with the trade union federation KESK and other left-wing democratic organisations against the Turkish state's war against the Kurdish population. Over a hundred people died and more than 500 others were injured, some seriously. To date, the attack has cost the lives of 104 people involved in the peace initiative.

The Executive Council Co-Presidency of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) released a statement marking the 7th anniversary of the 2015 Ankara massacre, saying the following:

“On October 10, 2015, an attack was carried out against a rally organized by the peace bloc at the Ankara Station junction, which resulted in a great massacre. We strongly condemn this bloodiest and biggest massacre in the history of Turkey and condemn the perpetrators. We commemorate all martyrs of freedom and democracy with respect and gratitude, including those who participated in the rally with the aim of co-existence and lost their lives in the massacre. The victims of the Ankara bombings are unforgettable martyrs of the struggle for democracy and freedom. It is a most fundamental duty for those who fight for freedom and democracy to keep the memories of these martyrs alive and to realize their dream of a democratic Turkey. As the Kurdish Freedom Movement, we reiterate our promise that we will lead their struggle to victory as we commemorate the martyrs on the 7th anniversary of the massacre.

“TURKEY HIRED ISIS”

The 2015 Ankara bombing is the biggest political massacre in the history of Turkey. The perpetrator of this massacre is the fascist AKP-MHP alliance, which hired ISIS members to carry out this attack. As is proven by this massacre, ISIS is a force mobilized by the AKP-MHP alliance in its attacks. Previously, Turkish state forces used to hire the Hizbi-Contra militias to attack the Kurdish people. Today, the AKP-MHP alliance hires ISIS members to carry out massacres.

It is very important to correctly understand the background of the October 10, 2015 massacre and what was intended with it. The alliance formed by the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey for the democratization and freedom of the country achieved a major success following the general elections on June 7, 2015 and emerged as the main force that would determine the future of Turkey. Following the elections, the AKP lost power and the democracy forces that rallied together within the HDP became a democratic force to rule the country. For the first time in Turkey's history, while the AKP and other state forces lost and weakened, the Kurds and Turkish democracy forces achieved a major success and a great opportunity for a democratic Turkey. This success was achieved thanks to the Kurdish Freedom Movement, the struggle and legacy of the Turkish socialist movement and Turkey's pro-democracy groups. The democracy alliance became a major power to resolve the problems of the Kurds, the Alevis, women, religious groups, laborers and all marginalized segments and to reconstruct Turkey on a democratic basis. However, anti-Kurdish and anti-democracy genocidal, colonialist-statist forces formed the AKP-MHP alliance and introduced the Collapse Plan, which had been prepared beforehand, in order to prevent Turkey's reconstruction on the basis of democracy. Attacks, massacres and conspiracies were implemented as part of this plan. The 2015 Ankara massacre was carried out as part of the AKP-MHP alliance's Collapse Plan. Therefore, this massacre was directed against the democratization of Turkey, the fraternity of the peoples and the will to live together.

“STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM DID NOT REGRESS, IT GREW EVEN MORE POWERFUL”

Despite all the attacks of AKP-MHP fascism, the struggle for freedom did not regress and it has grown even stronger, becoming an important power to determine the politics in contemporary Turkey. Now, the democratic alliance and struggle formed by the Kurdish people, the peoples of Turkey and the democratic forces has become predominant within Turkey’s society. This has been a very important development in terms of the struggle for freedom and democracy. Undoubtedly, this situation has been made possible through struggle. Against the crackdown, attacks and massacres of the fascist AKP-MHP alliance, the Kurdish people, especially women, the peoples of Turkey and the forces of democracy demonstrated outstanding resistance. This meaningful and major resistance has further increased the hope of freedom and brought the AKP-MHP alliance on the verge of collapse. The attacks of the fascist AKP-MHP alliance have thus remained inconclusive and their plans have failed.

“THE THIRD ALLIANCE SHOULD BE PROMOTED”

The democratic alliance formed by the peoples, women, workers and democratic forces has become even stronger following the establishment of the labour and freedom bloc (third alliance) and has become a movement to offer a democratic solution to the problems in Turkey. It is possible that the labour and freedom bloc, which has a potential for a broad democratic alliance, will be further developed and become the strongest social and political movement in Turkey. Everyone must work harder in order to realize it. The third alliance represented by this democracy movement is the true and real power that receives much support from Turkey’s society and will offer a democratic solution to Turkey's problems. Promoting the third alliance is the most fundamental task for those fighting for freedom and democracy, and it is very important to take a stand against approaches that may weaken it. Individual stances against the third alliance should be disregarded and efforts should be made to strengthen it based on democratic unity and solution.

“EMBRACING ÖCALAN IS A MORAL AND POLITICAL DUTY”

The Kurdish people's leader, Abdullah Öcalan, has made great efforts for the joint struggle and democratic alliance of the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey and introduced the ideological and theoretical framework for it. It is very important to see, understand and promote it. Throughout his life, Öcalan has tried to undertake important work for the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey to live together based on the concept of a democratic nation and for the realization of a democratic alliance and reconstruction in Turkey. Because of his activities and ideals, the fascist AKP-MHP government has imposed an aggravated isolation and torture system on Öcalan. However, he has put up major resistance against the AKP-MHP alliance and maintained his stance. Therefore, embracing Öcalan is a moral and political duty for the democratic alliance and the third alliance.

“THE DEMOCRACY MOVEMENT SHOULD GROW TO KEEP THEIR MEMORY ALIVE”

As the Kurdish Freedom Movement, we consider the expansion of the struggle for the brotherhood of peoples and the democratic transformation and reconstruction of Turkey as a requirement to remain committed to the martyrs, and we would like to underline that we will make more efforts to secure it. We stand with the peoples of Turkey, women, youth, laborers and pro-democracy forces. With the common struggle of the peoples, the democratic alliance movement has become a very important force in Turkey. Bringing democratic solutions to Turkey's problems by expanding the democracy movement is a commitment to the revolution and democracy martyrs, particularly the 10 October martyrs. With this in mind, we once again commemorate all martyrs of revolution and democracy, including the martyrs of the 2015 Ankara bombings, with respect and gratitude and announce that we will remain committed to their memories and lead their struggle to victory.”
