KCK condemns attack on HDP executive in Ankara

KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-Presidency has released a statement strongly condemning the attack on HDP party assembly member Ahmet Karataş in the Ankara office yesterday.

KCK pointed out that Ahmet Karataş has been subjected to a deliberate and planned attack which -it underlined- came after the recent statements of Turkish President Recep T. Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu pointing Kurdish politicians and the HDP as a target, and the remarks of government's spokesman Bülen Arınç implying that the HDP could be closed and its executives could be tried.

Stressing that the AKP state has been insulting and threatening the HDP and holding it responsible for the negative developments in Turkey and Kurdistan, the KCK said "the openly targeting of the HDP, which is a great chance and opportunity for the resolution of the Kurdish question and democratization in Turkey, by the AKP is grounded on a certain plan and strategy. The monist oligarchic mindset aims to eliminate the rising struggle and will of the HDP in the eye of the peoples."

Reminding of the recent threats uttered by Erdoğan and Davutoğlu against the HDP, the KCK said the President and Prime Minister were behind this deliberate attack, remarking that these threats would encourage the AKP's police and civilian-fascist powers that will take these remarks as an open instruction and order.

KCK also reminded that many executives and members of the HDP had been targeted and attacked, and many offices of the party had been damaged, demolished and burnt down because of similar remarks formerly voiced by Turkish authorities. "It is obvious that the AKP state is behind these attacks", the KCK said.

Stressing that the HDP must take precautions against attacks tareting the party and its members, the KCK also noted that this attack, in which the HDP executive's throat was slit, also gave an open message, likening the assault to the method of ISIS gangs who are also slitting civilian people's throat and beheading them.

"It is a truth that ISIS fascists are getting organized under the name of various legal unions and associations in Turkey", KCK said and called on the Kurdish people and all forces resisting to repression to enhance the struggle and to bring the AKP to account.
