KCK: Paramilitary forces supported by AKP

Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Presidency has released a statement on the most recent attacks targeting the West Kurdistan city of Serêkaniyê.

Referring to allegations that the Turkish government is enabling the entrance of these armed and allegedly islamist groups to the Kurdish city over its borders, KCK said that the Turkish state is enabling the passage of these groups through a line of transportation from Antep-Urfa-Mardin to Aleppo- Serêkaniyê.

KCK evaluated the attacks on the Kurdish city as a new "Turkey’s colonialist attack" and called on Kurdish people in Turkey to "take to the streets to close the border in Antep-Urfa-Mardin region to prevent the passage of paramilitary forces".

KCK added that Turkey is trying to "turn the war in Syria to a war between Kurds and Arabs".

Speaking to ANF on Thursday, People’s Defense Units (YPG) commander Dijwar said that YPG forces have established a new battalion in the city of Serêkaniyê which was given the name of Abid Xelil, City Council president who was killed in an attack by armed groups on 19 November when clashes in the region first erupted.

YPG Headquarters Commander Sipan Hamo, in his interview to Ronahi TV on Wednesday, said that they see Turkey’s support to these paramilitary-style armed groups as Turkey’s attempt to occupy the territory of West Kurdistan. Hamo called on all Kurdish people in four parts of Kurdistan to react to this policy.
