KCK: People should not withdraw from the streets

The KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-Presidency has issued a statement greeting the mass resistance of the Kurdish people in North Kurdistan and Europe in protest at the attacks on Kobanê and sending condolences to the families of those patriots and revolutionaries who died as the result of attacks organised by the AKP government.

The KCK called on the people to maintain their struggle, saying: “Our people should continue their just and legitimate struggle until victory is achieved. The millions should not withdraw from the streets and areas of struggle, and step up the struggle, being aware that every backward step will be costly in the days and months ahead.”

The KCK statement emphasised that counter revolutionaries organised by the AKP government had murdered many patriots and revolutionaries, commemorating the sacrifice made by those who were resisting the attempts to carry out a massacre in Kobanê, and pledging to crown the struggle with victory.

The KCK statement called on everyone to join and step up the resistance for Kobanê. It continued: “We call on the whole Islamic world to join our noble struggle for humanity against the ISIS gangs who are the enemy of Islam. All our people and friends should be aware that these genocidal attacks on our people in Kobanê have been developed by the AKP. Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan’s comment yesterday that, ‘Kobanê will fall’, was an official announcement of the alliance between ISIS and the AKP”.

The statement continued, holding the AKP responsible for the counter revolutionary jihadi groups organised in North Kurdistan and in Turkey to attack the popular resistance. “The AKP is persisting with a policy of genocide, rather than change its Rojava policy and respect the values and gains of the Kurdish people”, the statement said.

The KCK statement concluded by calling on the people of North Kurdistan not to recognise the state of emergency imposed, saying: “Our people should step up their just and legitimate struggle until victory is achieved. The millions should not withdraw from the streets and areas of struggle, and be aware that every backward step will be costly in the days, months and times ahead. They should consolidate their self-defence and take the resistance to victory, saying: ‘Everywhere is Kobane, everywhere is resistance-uprising.’”
