KCK trial resumed in Diyarbakır
A new hearing of the so called 'KCK' (Kurdish Communities Union) trial against 175 Kurdish politicians, deputies, journalists, mayors and human rights activists has begun in Diyarbakır. 108 defendants are still in prison, some for over three years. Among the detained defendants are BDP deputies Kemal Aktaş and Selma Irmak as well as former DEP deputy Hatip Dicle who had been elected MP for Diyarbakır in the 2011 elections but was stripped off his mandate. There are 38 defendants in court today. Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Aysel Tuğluk was among the crowd in the audience. BDP member Bahri Çeken was the first to give evidence.
