KCK: Turkish state violating the ceasefire
Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Presidency has released a statement about the murder by police of three Kurdish civilians in Gever, Hakkari's Yüksekova district last week.
KCK pointed out that the police killings in Yüksekova occurred during the ongoing ceasefire of the Kurdish guerrilla forces, also reminding of the ongoing construction of new military posts and dams, roads and airports in the Kurdish region, which -it said- have also been enhanced after the declaration of the ceasefire. “The Turkish state's attitude has already violated the ceasefire process since the very beginning. It is only those intending to start a war who would tend to such works in such a period. This reality gives guerrilla forces the right to carry out actions against the construction of military posts, dams, roads and airports”, KCK underlined and noted that guerrilla forces have the right to reprisal in the event of attack and murder of civilians. “Ceasefire doesn't means the silence of one side and the military preparation and attack of the other side”, KCK added.
The Turkish state is eliminating the non-conflict environment with these attacks, KCK said and emphasized that the Kurdish people shouldn't remain silent nor allow the murder of civilians to be normalised. “Our people should continue to take to the streets and to protest the police killings in Gever”, KCK said and warned that police killings are otherwise not going to end.
“The impunity of police forces encourages them to easily raid bullets on people. The practices of the AKP government are different from those in 90's only in one single respect, which is the fact that Kurds were being killed ten by ten at those times, and three by three now. The Turkish media's silence in the face of these killings reveal that its connivance in 90's still continues today. Obeying the instructions of the state's war operations centre, the media is turning a blind eye to the murders in Kurdistan”, KCK emphasized.
KCK noted that the AKP government increased its military and political attacks in response to the every ceasefire the Kurdish freedom movement ensured before elections so far with an aim to give the AKP an opportunity to take a step for the resolution of the Kurdish question. On the other hand - KCK continued- the AKP aims to leave our movement inactive and to cover up its own aggression by waging a psychological war against the Kurdish people and movement by means of allegations that they 'resort to actions'.
KCK remarked that democracy forces and the public opinion should also display an attitude against police killings and the government's attitude, and that neither democratisation nor a solution to the Kurdish question could be achieved in Turkey without doing this.
KCK said the Kurdish people should also protest against Turkish Prime Minister's statements defending one nation, one country, one flag and one state in Turkey.
The government should know that these attacks and killings eliminate the non-conflict environment and gives guerrilla forces the right to reprisal, KCK said and called on the government to end its delaying policies and approach and to display its democratic will in order for the achievement of a democratic and permanent solution to the Kurdish question.
