KCK said: "The Kurdish people in Turkey and the Middle East together with the forces of democracy should struggle to have news of President Ocalan's health and safety."
In a written statement the KCK Executive Council co-presidency said: "Turkey and Kurdistan have also been reached by the coronavirus which has already spread all over the world. This virus has been proven to spread more in cold and humid places and in big cities. Crowded places and working environment where many people are together are places in which the virus spread rapidly. The risk of spreading the virus in prisons is said to be very high. For this reason, human rights organizations working around the world have made calls for the release of all prisoners, beginning with political prisoners."
The statement continued: "In Turkey prisons, visits have been stopped because of the coronavirus emergency and telephone calls have been increased. However, in Imrali, the Kurdish people's leader had not been allowed to meet his family and lawyers. No phone calls are allowed, despite having been requested. Currently, no information on the health and safety of Abdullah Ocalan is available. It is the most natural right for families and lawyers to get information about health and safety in the time of coronavirus. The most important feature of Imralı Island is that it is moist and cold. In this respect, it is very important to get information about the health of the Kurdish people's leader. Our people want to know it."
The statement added: "It appears clear that the AKP-MHP government execution law aims at killing political prisoners, most of whom are Kurdish, at this time of epidemic. Our people, especially young people and women, and democracy forces should be more sensitive about the health and safety of President Apo and should continue their struggle with creative ways and methods."
The KCK ended its remarks saying: "Today, at a time in which all humanity appears to be lost, there is a need for President Apo's thoughts and solution suggestions. The Kurdish people in Turkey and the Middle East, the forces of democracy should fight together to ensure news about President Apo are provided."
