KESK members to go on one hour strike today

The Confederation of Public Workers' Trade Unions (KESK) has called for a one-day strike today after the collective agreements were left to the arbitral tribunal.

KESK has called for a strike today to defend millions of public laborers and pensioners for "A humane life, safe work and for a secure future".

In a written statement KESK said that they will be on strike demanding fair wages and an end to increase contractual work. Government offered peanuts as pay increase is dwarfed by high inflation.

“Everything from needle to food has seen an increase in price. And the real inflation means wage raise does nothing to better the condition of workers", said KESK in a statement.

KESK Amed Branches Platform also called for a strike on the ongoing TIS negotiations between the government and trade unions.

At the press conference held at the Branch Building No. 1, Platform Term Spokesperson Nasır Demirkıran said: "From the very beginning, our confederation KESK, which struggles for the common interests of the public laborers and pays the costs for this, is ready to take its responsibility as always."
