KESK on strike in solidarity with Taksim protest
KESK (Confederation of Public Workers' Unions) is going on a two-day general strike across the country today in solidarity with the Taksim resistance.
Members of the confederation, wearing black, will gather in front of Galatasaray High School and march to Taksim Square in the afternoon.
In a written statement released on Tuesday, DTK (Democratic Society Congress) Working Group on Labor, Migration and Poverty announced solidarity with the strike KESK will start today demanding safe working conditions and future and a democratic Turkey.
DTK urged the AKP government to immediately lend an ear to the demands of the people and to take necessary steps for a democratic solution, a dignified peace and a free and equal life.
DTK ended its statement by calling on all workers to join the strike for the achievement of democratization in Turkey.
