Kisanak joins the hunger strike: “The isolation must end”

Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Gultan Kisanak has joined the hunger strikes against the isolation imposed upon Ocalan.

Support for imprisoned DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Guven’s hunger strike that she started to protest the isolation in Imrali continues. Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Gultan Kisanak, also in prison, is going on a hunger strike starting today. Kisanak announced that she is going on a 10 day alternating hunger strike and issued the following statement:

“MR. OCALAN’S ROLE HAS BEEN SEEN”

“I am also going on an alternating hunger strike, starting today, to end the isolation imposed upon Mr. Ocalan. I support our MP Leyla Guven’s hunger strike that she started with the same purpose. I would like to state that all of us have a great responsibility on our shoulders for her to achieve results and for the isolation to be broken. The strict isolation imposed in Imrali goes against human rights, and violates the law in a way that no state that claims to have rule of law would do. And, it has been seen how important a role Mr. Ocalan plays for social peace in past processes. That is why ending the isolation will launch a new process that could lead to social peace.

“I BELIEVE WE WILL PREVAIL”

I am calling on all of the democratic public to correctly comprehend the hunger strikes that appeal to the conscience of society and to support them. Before the World War III staged by imperialism to play out in the Middle East pulls Turkey deeper into the maelstrom, we need a voice for peace. For the voice of reason, peace and dialogue to be heard, the isolation in Imrali must end at once. We can’t stay silent when war, death and tyranny silence peace. I believe we will prevail.”
