BDP co-chair Gültan Kışanak has put down her name in the list for candidates from which the mayor candidates will be selected. Kışanak put her name down for the city of Amed (Diyarbakır) metropolitan council.

Current mayor Osman Baydemir could in fact not run for a third term.
