“An end to Turkish state fascism can only come through a peaceful and political resolution of the Kurdish question and Abdullah Öcalan is the only one capable of leading such a peace process, said the KNK.
The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) branch in the UK released a solidarity message for the global campaign “End Isolation, Occupation, Fascism; Time for Freedom,” and called on their friends from around the world to support the campaign.
The message of the KNK UK branch reads as follows:
“Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan has been kept in isolation in Imrali Island Prison in Turkey, in conditions contradicting international law and every human rights treaty, since his abduction from Kenya in an international conspiracy of NATO forces on 15 February 1999. However, due to Öcalan’s resistance, the isolation on Imrali Island has failed to prevent his ideas and spirit from spreading around the world, which have transformed the Kurdistan freedom struggle and the fate of the Middle East region.
Under the fascist AKP-MHP regime’s desire for regional dominance within the Neo-Ottomanism framework, the war against freedom and democracy has continued to escalate; the Turkish state has continued its genocidal approach towards the Kurds, and expanded its occupation of Iraqi and Syrian Kurdistan with the help of jihadist proxy forces. Today, the largest obstacle to the advancement of the AKP-MHP Neo-Ottomanism project is the resistance of the Kurdish freedom struggle.
We know very well that an end to Turkish state fascism can only come through a peaceful and political resolution of the Kurdish question. And we have seen time and again that Abdullah Öcalan is the only one capable of leading such a peace process. The release of Öcalan from prison and the democratisation of Turkey would initiate a process of democratisation and peaceful reconciliation throughout the region. The call for freedom for Öcalan is a call for peace in the Middle East; the path to peace must travel through Imrali.
On the occasion of the launch of this campaign, we send our solidarity to those struggling for freedom for Öcalan across the UK, in all parts of Kurdistan, and around the world. In addition, we offer our warm greetings to all our friends across the globe who stand in solidarity with us in this struggle. The forces of occupation and division know that fascism can never prevail against a free people; this is why they have sought to isolate Öcalan and annihilate the movement for freedom in Kurdistan. But now, the time has come: End Isolation, Occupation, and Fascism! Time for Freedom!”
