Kocak: Isolation is not broken, resistance will continue

Mehmet Ali Kocak, who has been on a hunger strike in Geneva for 78 days protesting the isolation, said: “My resistance will continue until the isolation is completely broken.”

Mehmet Ali Kocak, who went on an indefinite nonalternating hunger strike in Geneva on February 20 to break the absolute isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan, continues on day 78. Kocak spoke to the ANF after the visit Ocalan had with his lawyers was announced to the public, and said he will continue his resistance as long as the isolation imposed upon Ocalan is not completely over.

“THE MEETING IS IMPORTANT BUT THE ISOLATION CONTINUES”

Kocak, who continues his resistance in the Kurdish Social Center Geneva, said Ocalan’s meeting with his lawyers is important but it doesn’t mean that the isolation has ended completely.

Kocak said Ocalan had met with his brother Mehmet Ocalan before during the hunger strikes, and added: “A legal status must be put in place for our Leader to meet with his family and lawyers in a continued manner. The details of the lawyers’ meeting show once again that the isolation against our Leader has yet to end. The isolation continues.”

“OUR PROTEST WILL CONTINUE”

“Our fundamental demand that the isolation end completely has still not been met,” said Kocak and addede: “Our Leader points to the Newroz 2013 statement in his message and puts forth what the state should be doing clearly. As such, we will continue our protest until the isolation against our Leader is ended completely. We said this before, we are not afraid to pay the price. We are ready for that.”

“THE RESISTANCE OPENED THE GATES OF IMRALI”

Kocak said the hunger strikes and death fasts, as well as the resistance of the mothers, forced the state to open the gates of Imrali for the lawyers.

Kocak said the police attacking Kurdish mothers is a sign of the state’s desperation in the face of the resistance and added: “The state is defeated by the resistance. But as they are defeated, they get more and more aggressive. We are faced with a state that has no tolerance for mothers. They attack the mothers brutally and immorally. They know no bounds in unlawfulness and injustice. If there was justice in Turkey, today those who attacked our mothers would be on trial. If justice is served, the gangs there must be put on trial, Erdogan must be put on trial.”

“WE BELIEVE IN OUR PEOPLE AND OUR RESISTANCE”

Mehmet Ali Kocak said: “We are determined to break this isolation. We believe in our people and our resistance. Our people must trust us and support us more in our resistance.”
