KON-KURD calling Kurds to 8 September festival

A week before the 20th International Kurdish Culture Festival, Confederation of Kurdish Associations in Europe (KON-KURD) called upon the 10 federations and 175 unions affiliated to the Confederation, the people of Kurdistan in Europe and all their friends to ensure broad participation in the festival.

The written statement by KON-KURD pointed to the national democratic struggle of the Kurdish people for a “free leader, free Kurdistan” and underlined that this year’s festival in the German city of Mannheim coincides with a historic time when the Kurdish people are liberating their homeland from the colonialist power.

KON-KURD pointed out that all the people of Kurdistan should regard him/herself responsible and on duty in this respect and called attention to the importance of being at the festival area on 8 September with banners, flags, slogans and in dresses and colours representing the national and political identity of the Kurdish people.

The festival which is organized by the Federation of Kurdish Unions in Germany (YEK-KOM) will be followed by the Bus Tour for Öcalan which will take start from the festival area and last till 27 October in 70 central cities of eight countries.

KON-KURD ended announcing that the Confederation and all its institutional powers will ensure an active participation in the event which will voice demands for Öcalan’s freedom.
