KON-MED: Öcalan shows the way to a dignified peace

On the occasion of the International Day of Peace on September 1, Kurdish umbrella organization in Germany said: "Öcalan shows us the way to a dignified peace, co-existence, women's freedom and an end to environmental destruction.”

The largest Kurdish umbrella organization in Germany, KON-MED has issued a written statement on occasion of the International Day of Peace on September 1.

The statement pointed out that: "Rising racist and fascist violence and crimes, police authorities permeated by racism and a far-reaching impunity of right-wing terrorists, as well as right-wing populist leaders like Trump, Johnson, Putin or Erdoğan show us that peace is hanging by a thread. Especially the Kurdish people as well as the peoples of the whole Middle East suffer from never-ending wars and the resulting suffering. They die, women are raped, the children are robbed of their future.”

Recalling the perspectives of Abdullah Öcalan and the peace processes he initiated, KON-MED said: “Unfortunately, peace in Turkey and Kurdistan is far away because the Erdoğan regime, in order to continue its repression, robbery and looting, has formed a coalition with the MHP and juntos within the state, which are notorious for their war crimes and crimes against humanity in the 1990s.”

"We must embrace democratic modernity"

The association accused the Turkish regime of ignoring peace and trying to maintain its place and system by killing the Kurds in an attempt to hide the economic crisis that is worsening every day.

The statement continued: “The fascist Turkish regime is carrying out these attacks with the support and permission of capitalist modernity. Germany's increasing arms exports, the US permission for an attack on Rojava, the betrayal of the South Kurdistan government and Russia's bargaining clearly show this. To frustrate this flagrant aggression, the democratic modernity formulated by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the social peace it will bring about should be embraced. Öcalan shows us the way to a dignified peace, co-existence, women's freedom and an end of environmental destruction. It is crucial for the Turkish government to stop undermining social peace, to restart dialogue with Öcalan for an honorable peace, to end isolation which is a crime against humanity and to return, together with leader Öcalan, to the road map declared in Dolmabahçe to achieve peace.”

KON-MED ended its statement by calling for strong participation in the actions to be staged throughout Germany to mark September 1.
