Kongra Star expresses support for Green Left Party

“The 21st century is the century of women’s freedom,” said Kongra Star Aleppo Coordination, expressing solidarity with women fighting for democracy and defeat of the AKP-MHP regime in Turkey.

In the run-up to the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey on May 14, the Aleppo Coordination of women’s umbrella organization in North-East Syria, Kongra Star, expressed their support for the Green Left Party and women fighting to defeat the AKP-MHP regime.

Representatives of non-governmental organizations and political parties joined the Kongra Star Aleppo Coordination, which made a press statement at the Martyrs’ Square in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood.

The statement read out by Kongra Star Aleppo Coordination Member Fehîme Hemo said: “We stand in solidarity with women who fight for the achievement of democracy and stand as candidates for the upcoming elections. Thanks to them, a new history will be made to carry society forward on a democratic basis.”

The statement continued: “The 21-year-old repressive regime of the AKP and MHP has dragged the Turkish state into a political, economic and social crisis and also penetrated into neighbouring countries by supporting terrorism.”

“The 21st century is the century of women’s freedom,” the statement concluded.
