Kurdish Culture Festival calls for urgent action against the isolation of Öcalan

Speaking at the International Kurdish Culture Festival in Frankfurt, Kurdish politician Hatip Dicle denounced the international silence against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and called for ‘urgent action’.

The 32nd International Kurdish Culture Festival, organised under the motto ‘Let's Break the Isolation and Occupation, Let's Liberate Leader Apo’, continues with great enthusiasm.

The masses are celebrating the Cultural Festival with great enthusiasm with the music of the Kurdish cultural movement TEV-ÇAND and other participating artists.

The festival continued with speeches by KNK (Kurdistan National Congress) Co-Chair Zeynep Murad and Kurdish politician Hatip Dicle on behalf of the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question’ campaign launched globally on 10 October 2023.

ZEYNEP MURAD:JIN, JIYAN, AZADI’ IS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

Zeynep Murad started her speech in the Kelhori dialect of Kurdish and expressed that the people of Eastern Kurdistan bring their greetings to Abdullah Öcalan.

Zeynep Murad then continued her speech in the Sorani dialect and talked about the stage reached by the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question’ campaign. She said that with Abdullah Öcalan's philosophy, the Kurdish people raised a struggle in four parts and put up great resistance.

The KNK Co-Chair stated that the people of Rojhilat were a source of inspiration for all women's movements in the world with the slogan ‘Jin Jiyan Azadi’, a philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan.

Drawing attention to the attacks of the occupying Turkish state in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), Murad emphasised that the Kurdish people would unite around the freedom fighters and frustrate these occupation and annihilation plans. She continued: “By uniting around Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan), our people will live honourably and freely in the four parts of Kurdistan. Today, freedom fighters did and will frustrate all the attacks of the enemy with the philosophy of Leader Apo. As Kurdish people, we will embrace our values and culture and achieve freedom.”

HATİP DİCLE: THE CAMPAIGN ACHIEVED GREAT SUCCESS ON A GLOBAL SCALE

On behalf of the organising committee of the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question’ campaign, Kurdish politician Hatip Dicle made a speech about the campaign.

Hatip Dicle stated that the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question’ campaign launched on 10 October 2023, on the anniversary of the international conspiracy, had achieved great success on a global scale: “With his new paradigm, Leader Öcalan is not only the leader of the Kurdish people, but has also developed a democratic, ecological and women's libertarian understanding on a global scale. This campaign has been enthusiastically embraced by friendly parties and our oppressed people in Kurdistan. It was carried out in centres on all continents, from South America to Africa, from Europe to Asia.”

Mentioning the various campaigns carried out within the scope of the campaign and the joint declaration of dozens of Nobel Peace Prize winners, Hatip Dicle added: “We all know that Leader Öcalan's imprisonment in İmralı is about to leave 26 years behind. Except for a few minutes of telephone conversation, no news has been received from him for 3 years.”

Dicle drew attention to the silence of international institutions and said, “All institutions are complicit in this situation. To remain silent against the genocidal policies implemented by the Turkish state in İmralı is to ignore this crime against humanity.”

Saying ‘Enough is enough!’, Dicle said that the international institutions’ part in the isolation in İmralı cannot be ignored and highlighted the responsibilities of institutions such as the ECHR, the European Union and the Council of Europe.

Hatip Dicle said, “We once again insistently invite you to take urgent action on this matter! Know that we will not be silent. We will continue to defend the law and human values against the genocide regime in İmralı with determination!”

The festival continues with a music concert by singer Şehribana Kurdi.
