French doctor Jacques Bérès, in Rojava to provide medical support, said that: “the only weapons of the Kurdish fighters battling in Kobanê against the ISIS gangs are their courage and Kalashnikovs.

A founder of the Doctors Without Borders (Medicins Sans Frontieres) Dr. Jacques Bérès, who went to Serêkaniyê in Rojava for medical support and returned yesterday, issued a press statement in Paris.

Recalling that Kobanê has been under the attacks of ISIS gangs for weeks, Dr. Jacques Bérès said: “the conditions around there deeply affected me as a surgeon.” He stated that: “the medical equipment in order to treat the wounded fighters is highly inadequate, that’s why we cannot treat the wounded fighters properly”.

Dr. Jacques Bérès added: “the only weapons the fighters have are their courage and AK47s.”

Dr. Jacques Bérès called on the international powers to provide immediate military and humanitarian aid. Dr. Bérès said: “they are fighting against the tanks of the ISIS gangs with their Kalashnikovs. There is a big gap between the YPG and the ISIS gangs in terms of technical weapons and military equipment.”

Stating that military and humanitarian aid must be sent to the region as soon as possible, Dr. Jacques Bérès said: “otherwise, the ISIS gangs will carry out a massacre against the Kurdish people in the region. Dr. Bérès underlined the fact that no country, including France, is providing military or humanitarian aid for the region.
