Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) guerrillas have taken into custody four village guards in the southeastern province of Þýrnak on Thursday while making an ID control in the area.
A large-scale operation has been launched to find the four village guards in the province's Beytüþþebap district. The PKK is also still holding eight people, including five civilians, detained in the past two months.
On July 9, the PKK detained two soldiers and a health official after stopping a military vehicle on the Diyarbakýr-Lice highway. A candidate for district governor and a medic were detained on August 12 while three more civilians were detained in late August.
Ten NGOs have issued a joint statement calling on the PKK to release the eight hostages on Wednesday.
