People’s Defense Forces (HPG) has confirmed they have detained opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy Hüseyin Aygün on Sunday. The deputy was detained while traveling on the Dersim-Ovacýk road.

The statement by HPG Press Office HPG-BIM undelirned that the operations launched by the Turkish army in the regions of Sal Valley, Veng and Turnuva after Aygün’s detention put the deputy’s safety in danger.

HPG stressed that the operations in the area should stop given the situation.
