Kurdish organisations call for protests over Kobanê massacre

Women's organisations and Kurdish umbrella organisations call for broad protests against the deadly drone attack by the Turkish state that killed three women in Kobanê at 6 pm yesterday.

The protests against the massacre of three women in the village of Helîncê (Halinja) near Kobanê are becoming increasingly widespread. After three women, Zehra Berkel from the coordination of the women's movement Kongreya Star for the Euphrates region, Hebûn Mele Xelîl from the Kongreya Star Board in Kobanê and her host Amina Waysî were killed by a targeted Turkish drone attack on Tuesday, anger and outrage are spreading. Women's organisations and Kurdish umbrella organisations are calling for protests at 6 pm.

KCDK-E: The international forces are jointly responsible

The Kurdish European umbrella organisation KCDK-E says: "The Turkish state is doing everything to destroy any achievement of the Kurds. The dictator Erdoğan continues his massacres of children, women and old people. This state, which mutilates the corpses of the dead and devastates cemeteries, which plunders and destroys Kurdistan's nature, has committed a new massacre of women in Kobanê. The fascist Turkish state is attacking the Kurdish women as if it wants to take revenge for its ISIS criminals. It obviously wants to implement itself what the ISIS has not managed to do. The international forces which applauded the Kurds for their victory over the ISIS are partly responsible. Their silence means complicity".

TJA: The murderer is known - we will not let him rest!

The Free Women's Movement TJA, which is organised in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, says: "Once again, three women have been made into a target and killed. Sakine, Leyla, Rojbîn, Hevrîn, Sêvê, Fatme, Pakize, Gulistan, Melek, Zehra, Hebûn, Emine are only some of them. The fascist regime is committed to the murder of Kurdish women. We appeal to the international community! The murderers are known. Our struggle will continue until the murderers are held accountable in international courts!"

DBP: Kurdish women will answer the massacre with resistance

The HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) member party DBP (Democratic Regions Party) also issued a statement on the massacre and said: "This government is a sworn enemy of Kurdish women and is trying to stifle the women-led revolution in Rojava. This is the reason why Kurdish women are being attacked. They have stopped the ISIS, which had terrified the world, on the way of establishing its fascist dictatorship and started a revolution in the whole Middle East. The best answer to this regime is the revolutionary women's resistance."

TJK-E: Our struggle for women will smash fascism

The Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) called on everyone, and women in particular, to organise protest actions this evening (Wednesday). “We call on all democrats, especially women and women organizations to organise against the massacre mentality of the Turkish state which targets the Rojava women's revolution. We are calling on Kurds and Kurdish friends to organise protests at 6 pm this evening. Our struggle for women will smash fascism.” TJK-E said that the targeting of women in Kobanê is the expression of how much the Turkish state is afraid of women.

WDR: Defend life against fascism

Women Defend Rojava called on all women in the world to stand up against the war crimes committed by the Turkish state, to denounce the responsibility of Russia, as they are controlling the fly zone over Kobanê, all NATO member states and all organisations, such as the United Nations, which turn a blind eye to the human rights violations committed throughout Kurdistan.

Women Defend Rojava also reiterated its call on all women to defend Rojava and Kurdistan against fascism, and to organize actions, demonstrations or rallies; "We call on them to inform on the atrocities of the Turkish state and to put pressure on those responsible. We call for taking our role as women and defending life against fascism. Let us organise our self-defense together as women worldwide! We have to end this patriarchal mentality!”

Kongra Star: Turkey targets the organization of women

Kongra Star Coordination member Remziye Mihemed said: "Turkey is targeted the organization of women. Those who sow the seeds of women's struggle in Northern Kurdistan, or in Rojava like Zehra were always the target of the Turkish state. They want to destroy the Kurdish people by destroying women. We condemn the attitude of Russia, which is silent on these attacks. The Turkish state is attacking in a region where Russian forces are deployed and Russia does not know about it. Such a thing is not possible.”
