Iranian Kurdish political prisoner Habibullah Gulperipur was hanged today in Umraniye jail, Iranian Kurdistan. The young politicians had been in prison since 2007 and had heavily being tortured by the authorities who kept transferring him from jail to jail.

According to the first information received the family of Gulperipur was told to go to Urmiye prison and once there they were told their son had been hanged already. The body is said to have been taken to the morgue but the family still had not been able to see it nor take it away for burying.

Gulperipur was arrested on 27 September 2007 in Mahabad and heavily tortured in prison. On 14 March 2010 he was sentenced to death penalty and he went on huger strike for 15 days to protest the sentence.
