Kurdish youth in action for Öcalan

In more than ten European cities the Kurdish youth movement has demanded the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan with street actions.

In more than ten cities in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Greece, activists of the Kurdish youth movement took to the streets on Friday to demand the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan on the occasion of the beginning of the international conspiracy against the Kurdish leader.

One of the actions took place in Mainz. The student associations YXK and JXK together with anti-fascist structures organized a spontaneous demonstration with fireworks through the city center. At the same time, activists of JXK hung a four-meter banner with the inscription "Em dibejin Na! ("We say no") and "Bi Hev Re Serhildan" ("Together for uprising") with Öcalan's image.

The activists told ANF: "The illegal imprisonment of Öcalan is not only directed against him but against the whole Kurdish people. As long as the total isolation of Öcalan continues, we will not leave the streets. The time of freedom has come, a dialogue with Öcalan is more urgent than ever. We demand freedom for all political prisoners and an end to the criminalization of the Kurdish liberation movement. Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan - Peace in Kurdistan!”
