Kurdish youth in Europe protest the isolation of Ocalan

In Bielefeld, Bochum, Duisburg, Bordeaux and Marseille, spontaneous actions by the Kurdish youth movement to support the hunger strikes against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan have taken place.

To draw attention to the hunger strike of political prisoners in Turkey against the isolation of the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the Kurdish youth movement Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger has conducted spontaneous actions in Germany and France.

HDP MP Leyla Güven has been on a hunger strike in Amed (Diyarbakir) Prison since November 7 and is in critical condition. Hundreds of other political prisoners joined the indefinite hunger strike with the motto “Leyla Güven’s demand is our demand”. Also in Strasbourg, 14 Kurdish activists have been on an indefinite hunger strike since 17 December.

In Bielefeld, dozens of people gathered in the late evening at the central station for an action of civil disobedience to demand determined publicity and solidarity with the Kurdish politician Leyla Güven and hundreds of other hunger strikers. They appealed to the German public and to the German media to address the urgent issue of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question and to report on the current situation in Kurdistan. Several people loudly emphasized the consequences of the silence on Turkey's policy of genocide against the Kurds as well as the rebellion and resistance of thousands of people in all parts of Kurdistan.

Similar actions were staged in Bochum, Duisburg, Bordeaux and Marseille.
