Kurdish youth to launch a long march for Öcalan in Germany

Kurdish youths led by Jinên Ciwanên Azad and Ciwanên Azad will launch a five-day march in Dortmund on September 11, set to join afterwards the 25th International Kurdish Culture Festival to kick off in Cologne on September 16.

Also this year a traditional long march will be staged by the initiative of the Kurdish umbrella youth's movements Jinên Ciwanên Azad (Free Young Women) and Ciwanên Azad (Free Youths) as a prelude to the International Kurdish Culture Festival in Germany.

At 11.00 on 11 September, the Kurdish youths will begin their march at the Democratic Kurdish Society Center in Dortmund. The youths movements organized the march within the frame of the "Azad Bike" (Make Free) campaign going under the motto "Smash colonialism with revolutionary revenge - Free The Leader". 200 youths will be joining the march that stretches over 120 kilometers in 5 days.

Zîlan Vîn on behalf of the Organisation Committee made a call to all Kurdish youth to join the march against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and capitalist modernity.

“A FREE LEADER AND A FREE LIFE”

Stressing the aggravated isolation on Õcalan, Vîn named "a free leader and free life" as the first motivation for the march, and referred to the intensified tyranny of the AKP government on the Kurdish people as follows: "It is 19 years that our leader is held in permanent isolation. But we haven't received any single information on our leader for one year. The Kurdish youth are very concerned over this situation. We say as a youth’s organisation, that we have to call a halt to this situation. We have to counteract these practices directly. In that respect, our march will be held as part of the 'Azad Bike' campaign, that connects to the diverse demonstrations before. Besides standing as a prelude to the festival, this march is also a part of our activities for the freedom of our leader. We do not regard it as a march alone, but also as an opportunity to promote the ideas and ideology of our leader. We will try to tell this to our people after each step we take. We do this as a first step, and will organise more activities of these kinds."

'WE CALL ON EVERYBODY TO JOIN THE MARCH'

Vîn said that another goal is to gather Kurdish youths living in whole of Europe, and continued: "More than marching, we hope to gather youths of different countries to share the life with each of them. We want them to know each other, socialise and share their respective cultural knowledge. For that purpose we have prepared cultural and social programs for each night or stage of our march. There will be music, round of talks, literary interviews and commemorations. Our people will be accommodating us throughout our route.”

Zîlan Vîn called on all youths in Europe to join the march and said the following: "This is no routine and usual march. It is to rally for the freedom of Öcalan, for culture and identity. Only this way we can break into pieces the culture of occupation and life under capitalist modernity imposed on us. For that reason we say "Free Leader Öcalan", "Free Kurdistan", "Free the Life", and call on everyone to join the march with this motto."
