Kurds and European parliamentarians showed support for HDP in Brussels and protested AKP’s political genocide.
The tent protest in front of the European Parliament Commission building against the political genocide on the Kurdish people and the HDP in Brussels, Belgium continues on the second day.
A large crowd attended the protest yesterday, including HDP MPs Faysal Sarıyıldız and Tuğba Hezer in exile, former Van MPs Özdal Üçer and Kemal Aktaş, Kongra Gel Co-chair Remzi Kartal, KCK Executive Council member Zübeyir Aydar, Benelux Parliament Member Mark Hendrix, European Parliament member Costas Mavriche, European Parliament member Julie Word, AABF Co-chair Fatma Biçici, Journalist Doğan Özgüden and Suat Bozkuş.
SARIYILDIZ: ERDOĞAN IS LIKE HITLER AND MUSSOLINI
Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız spoke in the name of HDP in the press briefing in Schuman Square, and mentioning the pressure his party is facing, stated that the recent events were political genocide practices by a fascist regime. Sarıyıldız said the following:
“As of today, 12 MPs including the co-chairs of the third largest party in the parliament are under arrest. Doors to our party buildings have been broken down, our headquarters raided and arrests were made by force. This is political genocide. The principle written in huge letters in the Turkish parliament, “Sovereignty unconditionally and unrestrictedly belongs to the people” has once more been trampled underfoot. Sovereignty today doesn’t belong to the people. It belongs to President Erdoğan and the AKP government that implement oppression on the peoples and their representatives and fascistic politics. The largest political obstacle on the path to building a monotone, single-view, one-man regime in Turkey is the HDP and they are trying to dissolve it through violence and oppression.”
Sarıyıldız likened Erdoğan to Hitler and said: “The Statutory Decrees prepared by Erdoğan’s orders are very similar to the decree issued by Hitler on February 28, 1933. HDP MPs and co-mayors have been taken hostage and the oppression press has been silenced. In one night, thousands of public workers and academics have been expelled. Turkey has started turning into the Hitler’s Germany, Franco’s Spain and Mussolini’s Italy.”
HENDRIX: THESE PRACTICES ARE FASCISM
Benelux Parliament Member Mark Hendrix also pointed out the attacks on the HDP and said: “This is a great shame for Turkey. The events in Turkey aren’t in line with any rules or morals. These practices are fascism. I am ashamed to use this definition. I want to state that I am in solidarity with the HDP.”
MAVRICHE: HDP IS FIGHTING FOR ALL THE OPPRESSED
European Parliament Member Costas Mavriche likened the HDP’s struggle to the movements fighting against Hitler and Mussolini regimes and said: “HDP is carrying out the struggle for humanity against fascism today. HDP is not only fighting for the Kurds, but all oppressed groups including Alevis, Assyrians and Turks. Long live Kurdistan!”
WORD: THE TURKISH STATE DOESN’T WANT THE EVENTS TO BE KNOWN
European Parliament member Julie Word spoke about the war in Kurdistan and said the Turkish state didn’t want anybody to know of the events there, and exerted pressure to that end.
BİÇİCİ: ALL MUST TAKE TO THE STREETS
AABF Co-chair Fatma Biçici underlined that Turkey is being dragged into a civil war and said: “The arrests of Cumhuriyet journalists, HDP co-chairs and MPs is a sign of this. All must take to the streets against this situation and fight.”
