Kurds deliver dossier to French Consulate in Toronto

Kurds in Toronto have organised a protest in front of the French Consulate. The Kurds have then delivered a dossier to the consul, Mr. Jean-François Casabonne Masonnave.

In the letter the Kurds underlined that "It has been more than ten days since the despicable execution of three Kurdish women activists have taken place and no charges have been filled for the crime that has been committed in the heart of Paris. The crime location is in an area that is wired with high technology surveillance cameras and the French Security apparatus have an advanced forensic police investigation capability at its disposal. Yet, France seems to play to the horn of the Turkish PM Erdogan who has rushed to the judgment from the very early hours of the executions, falsely claiming that the matter is an internal feud. Information have been leaked to the media suggest that two individuals have been taken into the custody and the Turkish media claims that French secret service have detected a gunpowder on the cloths of one of the two taken into custody for questioning. The troubling details indicate that France is highly likely collaborating with Turkish official discourse. It would be an unfortunate failure and disenchantment of great hopes invested in French jurisprudence, if this will be the case".

Kurds demands that "France should stop arrest and victimizing Kurds that are part of French society and came to France with hopes to live in peace and raising their children.

France should also, as a nation that is known to be the beacon of the democracy and freedom, support the freedom of Kurdish people in Turkey, Iran and Syria whose identity is still being denied and oppressed".

Canadian Kurds are "angry and condemn the political assassinations of three Kurdish women activists in Paris with the strongest term. We demand that the Government of France bring those responsible to the justice at the earliest".

The letter was signed by Canadian Kurdish Federation, Toronto Kurdish Community and Information Center, Toronto Kurdish Women Committee, Toronto Kurdish Youth Committee, York University Kurdish Student Association, University of Toronto Kurdish Student Association.
