Kurds in Europe demand contact with Öcalan

For the third day in a row Kurds have taken to the streets in European cities to demand immediate contact with Abdullah Öcalan. For half a year there has been no sign of life from the Imrali prisoners.

Once again rallies and demonstrations have taken place in Europe in response to an appeal by the Kurdish umbrella organisation KCDK-E, calling for contact with Abdullah Öcalan. The PKK founder and architect of the Rojava revolution has been completely isolated from the outside world since August last year. Two days ago, the Turkish Interior Minister announced that a fire had broken out on the prison island of Imrali. The Asrın Law Office, representing Öcalan and his three fellow prisoners, demanded immediate access to the island, so far in vain. Nothing is known about the condition of the prisoners. Neither lawyers nor relatives can contact them in any way.
