Kurds in Germany take to the streets for Öcalan

Kurds and their friends in Germany are taking to the streets starting tomorrow to demand an end to the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Germany Democratic Kurdish Social Centers (NAV-DEM) are taking to the streets to demand an end to the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The written statement on the subject reads: “16 months have passed since Mr. Abdullah Öcalan was put in isolation, where he can’t see his family and lawyers. We have great worries about his life.”

The statement points out that the concerns over Öcalan’s situation intensified after the attempted coup and continues: “The attempted coup on July 15 is in its essence the struggle for power among the putschist-conspirator powers who were already in a race to impose a genocide on the Kurds. It is the allocation war among those who have been waging the most cruel war on our people for a year, primarily in Cizre, Sur, Nusaybin, Şırnak, Gever and Silopi.”

“WE DON’T CREDIT THE GOVERNMENT’S STATEMENTS”

“The joint goal of July 15 is the views of our leader Abdullah Öcalan, and the level of implementation of these views. In this sense, the life, security and health of the Leader is constantly under threat,” the statement points out, and continues:

“The latest attempt at a military coup has upped the ante in this threat when our Leader is already under constant threat to his life. Our concerns about the Kurdish Leader’s life have increased immensely after the attempted coup. We can’t know the state of his health, security and life until he is able to meet with his family, his lawyers and committees directly. Thus, we can’t credit or trust the statements made by the government officials.

In this sense, all administrators and members of DKTM, our people and all our friends should be in constant action until we get healthy information on the situation of our Leader. The conditions of living for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan can only be fully understood and the concerns of our people can only be fully addressed with his family and lawyers holding face to face meetings with him in person. This is why the international institutions and authorities should intervene at once, and put pressure on Turkey without delay, to have the lawyers and the family visit soon.”

“WE NEED A HISTORIC RESISTANCE”

NAV-DEM made the following calls in the statement:

“The women, the people and the oppressed needs to be in a historic resistance. Until we get reliable information on our Leader, DTM administrators should develop daily actions and events, and put our friends in action in the light of the constant action we are launching. We call for support for our Leader as attendance to all the actions and events to be held, from our people first, and all the revolutionary, democrat, socialist, pro-peace groups, led by women and the youth. We call for a constant spirit of dissent and attendance to the following actions to create sensitivity in the public:”
